Join us for an unforgettable evening as Whittier Elementary School proudly presents the 4th Annual Correspondents’ Dinner and Awards Ceremony- a celebration of student voice, creativity, and innovation within our Schoolwide Enrichment Model (SEM) program. Building on a tradition of honoring the outstanding achievements of our SEM scholars, this event reflects our commitment to fostering a nurturing environment where every student can explore, develop, and shine in their unique talents and gifts.
This year's theme, “Mic Drop: A Century of Thinkers, Builders, and Broadcasters,” will take center stage on June 10th, 2026, from 5:30 to 7:30 PM in the Whittier Elementary gymnasium. The evening will highlight the incredible work of SEM scholars across television broadcast journalism, chess club, and makers club- showcasing the creativity, critical thinking, and real-world learning experiences that define the program.
Open to all Whittier students, families, staff, and community members, this special event celebrates the power of curiosity, innovation, and student voice. From media production and storytelling to strategy and design, our scholars continue to explore their interests, develop their strengths, and express themselves in their own unique ways. We invite you to come celebrate, connect, and be inspired -because at Whittier, every student has a story worth sharing and every voice deserves the spotlight.
